
SOPHIE'S BIO
Sophie Manoloff is a New York-based freelance trumpet player. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to NYC in 2017 for her undergrad at New York University, graduating in May of 2021 with BM degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Business.
Sophie held the Principal Trumpet position at NYU for all four years and was the Student Assistant for Brass Studies, under Wayne DuMaine. She has studied trumpet with Pete Bond, Kevin Cobb, Joe Burgstaller, Ladislav Kozderka, Judith Saxton and Amanda Bekeny.
Her freelance career includes Broadway: the Trumpet 3 chair holder on Gypsy, & subbing on The Music Man, Ragtime and Chicago, National Tours: Fiddler on the Roof 2021-2023, Peter Pan 2024 (both lead trumpet), Subbing in the SNL house band (2025-present), performing at the 2025 Tony Awards, and venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Hollywood Pantages (L.A.), Preservation Hall (New Orleans), 2 NYC Off-Broadway shows, as well as many churches, quintet chamber music concerts, rock/pop/funk band cabarets (54 Below, GR 42, etc), West Village jazz clubs, and brass band busking.
Sophie has played concerts for various artists such as Adekunle Gold and Ripe, and appeared with her trumpet in a Harry Styles music video.
Versatile in Broadway, Legit, Big Band, Latin, R&B, Funk, Dixieland, Ragtime and Pop styles, and a doubler on Flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet, Sophie also sings and is proficient in piano, guitar, and drum set, with producing skills in Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro. She writes, records and produces music for various artists on all streaming platforms from her home studio in Brooklyn. Sophie also gives masterclasses to high school and college students about building a freelance career and has a small studio of private lesson students, teaching all ages.
